This was my first exposure to scripting. A coworker explained the steps for creating an object merge node with a keybaord short cut and together we created this according to our needs: Copy a random node and then pull it into a object merge node with a short cut and visually change the object merge node while automatically name it "IN_name of copied node" and paste it where the mouse cursor is in the node graph.
To learn the process, my part was basically to figure out how to change the node form, color and how to paste it where the mouse cursor was.
